Art Gallery

This gallery is a collection of art pieces that I have created over the years from newest to oldest. I hope you enjoy them!

“Emma Stone”

Size: 11×14

July 2021

Medium: Graphite Pencil

Description: I drew Emma Stone because she is one of my favorite actresses, and I loved the picture I found to draw. I took a portrait class awhile ago and have tried several since, but this was the first one that I am proud of and looks like the person I was drawing. I have learned several ways of portrait drawing, but for this one I outlined, then drew the face in detail, then the hair, then the clothes. I spent time getting all the details right so the proportions match up. The eyes and nose probably took the longest because of the detail.

“Autumn Leaves”

Size: 7×10

Completed: October 2020

Medium: Colored pencil

Description: I enjoy drawing details like texture and these leaves were a challenge! I worked on this piece over the course of a couple of days and my still life leaves dried up several times and I had to go find similar leaves to continue my piece. I drew the leaves, so they look life-like as if they are sitting on top of the paper. I made sure to add depth and shadow to add the realistic affect. Drawing from life lead me to practice correct proportions so the picture does not look distorted. The organic shapes and imperfections made the drawing a challenge but each one made the drawing look lifelike.

“A Street In Estonia”

Size: 11.5×9

Completed: June 2020

Medium: Watercolor

Description: This watercolor was inspired from a photograph. I enjoy detail in my work which is one reason I enjoy architecture. I also enjoy experimenting with different mediums to find which ones I enjoy most. Watercolor is a medium I had taken a class on and then I recreated this scene in the medium. I love the warm, muted colors and the delicate contrast between the light and dark tones.

“A Street in Italy”

Size: 9×12

Completed: June 2019

Medium: Pen and Ink

Description: This contrasting black and white pen and ink drawing was inspired from a street I visited in Italy. I took several pictures of this street and then did this drawing upon my return. The street and the buildings were so old and none of them appeared to be squared up or even. I kept trying to fix the angles of the buildings in my drawing but realized that the street was angled in a different way than normal. The Italian streets inspired me to draw more street scenes with different mediums. I enjoyed seeing the cohesiveness of the old and new built environment. I won an art competition at my school for this drawing.

“White Tiger”

Size: 11×14

Completed: July 2018

Medium: Colored pencil

Description: White tigers are strikingly beautiful. At first glance they appear to be black and white but in reality there is a lot of color in their fur which creates depth and warmth. Colored Pencil is one of my favorite mediums because of the blending capabilities that I can use to make my drawings realistic with vibrant color. In this drawing, I emphasized the contrast by using white negative space and the contrasting colors of the tiger’s stripes. The most challenging part of the drawing was finding the right color and texture for the ears and then depicting the hair the correct way.

“Neuschwanstein Castle”

Size: 17×14

April 2017

Medium: Graphite Pencil

Description: The Sleeping Beauty Castle in Disneyland was based off this monumental structure in Germany. I loved to draw the intricacies of the castle’s windows, doors, and towers. This piece took me about 5 months to complete by working piece by piece on the details. I used multiple photographs to be able to capture all the details such as the entry gate and the statue on top of the main roof. The angular roof and towers were a challenge to replicate without looking disproportionate, but my work paid off and I ended up earning some awards in art shows. I would love to visit this castle someday!
