My summer has been a lot different than what I had planned last February and March. I had several camps to attend, college visits, and a vacation that all have been changed by the coronavirus.
I was encouraged by my family and also by others’ stories about making masks for organizations. I thought, “I could do that!” So with the help of a friend and a ton of donated fabric, we set to work. It was an activity that I could do while in quarantine to keep busy.
The process was long with a whole lot of cutting, pinning, ironing, and sewing, but I knew it was for a good cause. I also had a friend, and music to help pass the time while working 🙂
I volunteer every month with the organization I gave the masks to. When I volunteered I got to see how the masks were used. They were much appreciated by other volunteers and the homeless! Most of the homeless could not find a mask so I donated the ones I sewed to them. I will be starting an etsy shop and selling my masks.
