I love the taste of fresh lemon. Buttercream is great for frosting cupcakes, cookies, cakes, and more!
How to make Lemon Buttercream Icing
The first step is to sift the powdered sugar. If you do not have a sifter, or do not want to dirty another dish, you can use an electric mixer to get the clumps out by mixing on low for 30 seconds.
The second step is to add the butter to the powdered sugar. Beat on low speed for about 1 minute.
Next, zest the lemon using a lemon zester.
The fourth step is to add the lemon zest, the lemon extract, and lemon juice. Mix together for about 2 minutes until light and fluffy.
Always taste the icing before you are done to make sure it is right!
